Michael Patrick O’Connor LLB. LLM.
After leaving Government in 1990, Michael joined Perpetual Trustees Australia Limited in Perth for a period of two years as its Assistant General Manager – Corporate Services. In that capacity he was responsible for the performance of Perpetual’s trustee responsibilities for 125 managed investment schemes and other corporate trusts with assets exceeding $5bn. Michael was transferred to Perpetual’s Sydney office in early 1993 where he headed Perpetual’s superannuation business nationally for a period of four years. He then established MasterTek, a successful Sydney based specialist consultancy to the funds management and superannuation industries, but after two years decided to return to Western Australia. On his return to Western Australia he established O’Connor Partners with a view to providing a specialty legal service to the corporate, commercial and financial planning sectors in Western Australia. Louella Morgan McFarlane (“Lou”) is a senior practitioner with a keen interest in the area of Inheritance Act litigation and combines that with her practice in wills, probate and estate administration & planning as well as her interest in trust, succession and superannuation law. Lou also has extensive experience in many areas of commercial law including contract, debt recovery, leases, partnerships, property and conveyancing and litigation in the Local, District and Supreme Courts. Lou graduated from the University of Western Australia initially with a Bachelor of Arts completed in 1973. Since then, she has combined her interest in small business with a Graduate Diploma in Business. Her legal studies include completing a Master of Laws. Mark Detata BJuris LLB.
Mark is a senior practitioner with extensive commercial law and civil litigation experience. In the course of his career, Mark has practiced predominately in the litigation area and has had experience in the Supreme, District, Local and Federal Courts. Mark also oversees our industrial law & debt collection departments. Kristen Newman BCom. LLB.
Kristen graduated from Murdoch University in 2005, having achieved a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Professional Accounting. She subsequently worked for an accounting firm as a tax consultant before joining us as an Articled Clerk in February this year. Given her background knowledge in tax, Kristen is keenly pursuing the development of a specialty in commercial law with an emphasis on tax law. Rob Beattie
Rob joined the firm as a senior law clerk in 2005. Rob is currently studying to complete his Bachelor of Laws and works closely with all the Solicitors in the firm to provide paralegal support. Rob’s main areas of work are in debt recovery, litigation support, company incorporation and establishing discretionary trusts, unit trusts and self-managed superannuation funds. |
